Hailed as the next big dance show phenomenon to follow Riverdance by
none other than the Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph, and Daily Express,
the Bellydance Superstars are the world's premier touring bellydance
troupe taking this ancient art form into the mainstream.
From their beginnings
as part of the 2003 Lollapalooza 45-city tour, performing to over half
a million people, to their 3-month run at the
Monte Carlo Casino in Monaco at the end of 2005, they have set a new
standard for bellydance and proved, beyond doubt its wide appeal to
a Western audience. Over 375 concerts in 16 countries with countless
television
appearances and impressive press coverage has added huge impetus to
an already growing interest in this most feminine and sensual dance art
that celebrates all women.
Bellydance Superstars is comprised of not only the highest caliber
performing dancers practicing the art, but also a number of them are
expert
bellydance instructors as well, making the regular Bellydance Superstars'
workshops
extremely popular affairs. Whether it be for entertainment, fitness,
or fun, bellydance is on the march, and the Bellydance Superstars
are out front inspiring and leading the way.
The pressure is on to continue pushing
the envelope of the bellydance art form to compete alongside major shows
like Riverdance and the Royal Ballet, all the while remaining true to
the essence of bellydance. Meanwhile it should be said that the Bellydance
Superstars have never pretended to be traditionalists. This is not a “folk
show” or married to a narrow view of what bellydance is.
"Shake, ripple and roll... The Bellydance Superstars are poised to be
the next Riverdance."
-- The Sunday Times (London)
"A hit show is born!"
-- Cleveland Plain Dealer
"Gorgeous, spiffily dressed, skilled dancers...
sheer genius."
-- Village Voice (New York)
