D. Westry's Melodic "Speed Art"
is a fast paced art performance show executed to the accompaniment
of music.
This exciting presentation can include many subject matters and can
be created in three mediums; charcoal, chalk pastels or paint.
"Lines of Creation" is an interactive artistic presentation
that includes audience participation. All creations are based upon spontaneous
lines made by members of the audience.
Both presentation can either be combined or separate, and
can include motivating and inspiring messages of your choice.
From the days of preschool in the early
70's, to this present day, D. Westry (The Speed Art Man) has always
attracted an audience to witness his unique artistry. His fast pace art
creations
as a child prodigy, quickly earned him his first title, "The Little
Artist."
Throughout his school days, D. Westry gained a significant
following of fans and admirers of his art. He would constantly challenge
students
to test his gift by asking them to make lines for him from which to
create pictures. "After entering High School in 1987, he decided
to participate in the talent show using his famous "Speed Art" performance.
D. Westry changed the traditional view of the talent show performer
forever by winning first place awards in every art competition he
entered.
As a pioneering art performer and speaker of the performance art
movement, D. Westry has revolutionized the lives of many people with
his articulation
and
mastery of creating larger than life art (with accompanying music).
He not only captures the heart of the audience as witnesses of his "Speed
Art" demonstrations,
but often surprises members by using them in the show, utilizing his "Lines
of Creations" techniques. D. Westry's Melodic "Speed Art" and "Lines
of Creations" shows are filled with artistic and musical excitement.
D. Westry's show will produce a memorable experience that will spark
within you with a new passion for life. He is also a highly motivating
and
inspirational
speaker. D. Westry will leave you absolutely mesmerized by the power
of his words and the narratives of his heart! "A modern day Renaissance Man, creating images with
his words and his hands"
What People Are
Saying
"D. Westry's performance on April 19, 2008 at the
Colwnbus Public Library was unique, entertaining and awesome. He demonstrated
his talents in his program, Lines of Creation and Speed Art. The children
and parents were so involved with him they seemed to be spell bound.
He captured their attention the whole time he was doing the program.
We were thankful he took out time from his busy schedule to come and
a short program for the children. After watching him perform I now know
why they call him "Speed Art Man." D. can take any line and
turn it into a creation of something before you blink your eyes."
-Lyn Seaman
"The most amazing talent I've ever seen" was
only one of the statements heard at an award ceremony sponsored by the
Muscogee
County Council PTA as parents and children watched in amazement the
incredible talent of D Westry, "The Speed Art Man". During
his 15 minute presentation, the audience continued to watch in awe
as The Speed Art
Man performed his lines of creation and ended with his famous Speed
Art performance completed in only five minutes to music. Mr. Westry
truly
encompassed the importance of our cultural arts programs with his speed
art presentation. We are so fortunate to have someone of his caliber
here."

"
True Inspiration is the first thing that comes to mind when speaking
of Mr. D. Westry. I was blessed to have encountered Mr. Westry at a pivotal
point in my life and he, being a worthy enough vessel to speak a seed
into my life, left me with one of the most important things to me this
day: 'If you do not use the gifts that you have been blessed with, then
there is someone else worthy enough to be blessed with them.' This allowed
me to understand that I have a greater responsibility than myself. Mr.
Westry's Artwork is the result of dedication and the aforementioned inspiration.
It takes more than the naked eye to see how much you are really being
given."
- Terrance Hunter
"
I have known D. Westry, a renowned artist, for over 10 years. By
far, he is the most prolific artist I have ever met. I used
him on several
occasions to inspire children, by painting a person in the audience
upside down with his back turned. In addition to his keen artistic
ability,
D. has commendable human spirit."
- Councilman Fredrick D. Richardson Jr.
"After seeing the super fast hand of D. Westry, my
jaw just dropped! The artistry used coupled with the performing part
is very original and
exceptional. Everyone, who has the privilege of seeing this man at work
will stand up and take notice of his art because of his originality and
multiple talents,"
