Great Western Swing, Honky Tonk and Rockabilly!
Interstate Cowboy formed approximately 3 years ago by band leader Tim Champlin.
This Colorado based band plays Western Swing, Traditional Country, Rockabilly
and Alt/Hard Country. Influences are Bob Willis, Spade Cooley, Johnny Cash,
Chris Isaak, Jimmy Rogers, Hank Snow and Ernest Tubb to name a few. In the
vein of Wills and Spade, this cd includes several fiddle tunes performed by
a very talented Cody Robinson, who is one of the top fiddlers in the west!
The rest of the cast is composed of some of the best in Colorado.
Interstate Cowboy is based out of Masonville,
Colorado which is in a beautiful valley above Loveland and Ft. Collins.
If you've ever been to Estes Park, Colorado you have probably passed
within earshot of Masonville which is about 5 miles north of Hwy 34
and the Big Thompson River. There have been quite a few members of this
band,
some who join us several times a year to those who are current regular
members. Always, the musicianship is topnotch with the "best of
the best" musicians lending their talents to this class outfit.

Honky Tonk, Rockabilly and Alt/Country. Interstate Cowboy plays at Fairs
and Rodeos,Town
and Country Dances, Weddings and other unique events, however you can
also find them at a run down bar on the outskirts of a lonely town when
the moon is right. Their current CD is titled "Ranch Dance Ruckus!" and
they are currently working on their followup CD which will include songs
like, "I'm an old Cowhand, Lady Be Good, Take the A train, and many
new originals including a "Surf" type number called "Evertime
she makes a mistake".
Tim Champlin is the bandleader and lives on a small ranch in the Masonville
valley along the Buckhorn Creek. Tim's musical influences started with
his dad, the late Jim Champlin who a few years back recorded the CD Honky
Tonks at Night which Tim produced. Other notable influences are Jimmie
Rogers, Hank Thompson, Hank Snow, and Hank Williams. Creedence Clearwater,
BB King, Nat King Cole, Elvis, Dean Martin, Bob Wills, Buck Owens, Merle
Haggard, were also big influences. Tim is also a professional firefighter
for the Poudre Fire Authority in Ft. Collins, Colorado. He is currently
assigned to the Hazardous Materials Team, but has worked on various other
apparatus throughout the Ft. Collins area. When Tim isn't playing music
or at the Firehouse he's busy training his horses and spending time with
family.
