John Adams - A Musical Tribute to John Denver

Sometime late in 1972, John Denver became a big hit in Europe with his very popular song; Take Me Home, Country Roads. Despite his love for Rock & Roll and Beatles's music, John Adams taste in music changed instantly and he became dedicated to John Denver’s music. He bought all Denver’s available albums and music books and started to sing “with” John Denver and learned his guitar style. Loving and following the music, he had the chance to attend two of John Denver’s concerts in Amsterdam in 1977.

Until John Denver’s untimely death on October 12, 1997, John Adams saw most of John Denver’s concerts in Holland, Germany, Belgium and England. John was not only inspired and influenced by Denver’s music, but also by his work as an environmentalist, humanitarian, his love for children, nature, his commitment to end hunger in the world and his life-long promotion of peace on the planet. Following John’s example, Adams became an Ambassador for Ronald McDonald Children Homes and worked 7 years as a teacher in Elementary and High Schools for UNICEF, the Children’s Fund of the United Nations, helping to increase awareness among children about other children “outside their own world”.

John Adams - A Musical Tribute to John Denver

In 1988 John Adams won a national song contest in Holland with John Denver’s song; Leaving On A Jet Plane, which opened up the opportunity for him to perform John Denver’s music in Holland, Germany, Belgium, England, Switzerland, Austria and even as far as Africa and Beijing, China.

John Adams had the good fortune of performing with John Denver on a TV-special and they sang; Whispering Jesse together. The song had not yet been released in the States and Denver was amazed that Adams already knew the song.

John Denver and John Adams met about 13 times after that, and Adams always felt he was speaking with a very close family member. Among the many stories they shared together, the most memorable ones were about life, their love for acoustic guitars, and their performances in China. Since John Denver’s passing, John Adams moved to the United States and has committed himself to keeping Denver's music alive and will continue John’s musical legacy as long as he is able to sing and perform it. John Adams, living in Silverthorne, Colorado, brings you the opportunity to listen to many of John Denver songs live, like; Sunshine On My Shoulders, Calypso, Take Me Home, Country Roads, Annie’s Song, and of course his signature song, Rocky Mountain High. Join John Adams and his band, for a magical musical journey through the songs and stories of Rocky Mountain Legend: JOHN DENVER.
