Mike and Joe is the name of the band and they
love music. Yes, two guys' names, four people in the band.
They cover Modern Rock/Alternative music but will throw in
some 80's and even a 70's tune or two.
Mike and Joe are a cover band but they are not
a "party" band. There is no schtick to their show.
They are a straight up rock band. Everything you hear at the
show is being played and sung live, and they do not track (play
along to pre-recorded music). They reproduce the songs they
play as accurately as possible.
Mike and Joe met as undergraduates at Indiana
University while living at the Theta Chi fraternity house.
They first began performing together informally as their fraternity
serenade band as well as for the general late-night amusement
of their friends. As their popularity grew at Indiana University,
word spread to other colleges in the state. Soon they were
getting calls from Purdue, University of Illinois, and others,
and started adding shows like crazy. Mike suggested approaching
a bar in Palatine, IL called Durty Nellies. Having grown up
in Mt. Prospect, IL, Mike knew of the bar from his older brothers
and sisters. Durty Nellies hired them and the Chicagoland
connection was made.
From Nellies, Mike and Joe started doing shows
at a little bar in Chicago called Gamekeepers. The bar manager
Joe
Kenny really invested in Mike and Joe and, with funny flyers
and goofy Reader ads, helped spread the word about the duo.
From Gamekeepers they graduated to a bar called Sidelines,
and then on to bigger venues like the Cubby Bear. Having skipped
straight over Indianapolis and wanting to break into a club
there, they took their acoustic guitars to Broadripple one
afternoon to find a place to play. They walked into every bar
they could find, offering to do an impromptu live audition
for anyone who would listen. Mike and Joe ended up getting
hired on the spot by a little bar called Club 816 and played
there weekly until the club became too small for their growing
fan base.

Mike and Joe now perform at a variety of the
top venues and were the first acoustic duo in the region to
cross over into the large mainstream clubs usually reserved
for "bands" only. argument). They now perform with
the full band under the same name to audiences all over the
country.
