At it's most fundamental, Preston and Volpe
is Paul Preston and Karen Volpe, a comedy duo based in Los Angeles. What
they deliver is original comedy material for performances at colleges,
corporate events, radio, and specialized occasions. A Preston and Volpe
show guarantees inventive improvisation and sketches, plus material can
be suited to any event or party and the results are always hilarious.
Preston and Volpe came together in 1991 when they realized they had a strong
love of the same thing - comedy. They were inspired by the works of Gilda Radner
and Steve Martin and duos Burns and Allen and Nichols and May. Together they
began writing original material, quite often with Karen providing outrageous
ideas, and Paul scripting them into funny sketches. They've worked together
in this way for 10 years.
In 1992, Preston and Volpe performed in the
Regional Showcase at the Lucille Ball Festival of New Comedy to great
response. That success led to other shows in Western NY, where they began
their career. They performed in Buffalo, Fredonia, and at comedy clubs,
college orientations and homecomings and town festivals.
Plus, their original comedy show 'Dial 10-10-Y2K'
has performed in both Chicago and New York City. They've also performed
at the Arlington Summer Kick-Off, The Playground and corporate events
including Amoco Chemical and The Chicago Association of Media Professionals.
They are both established actors keeping themselves busy on-stage (including
an 8 month stint with Disney Cruise Line) as well as in front of the
camera and have brought their experiences to schools in workshops varying
from acting and improvisation to music and Shakespeare. In the fall of
1998, they participated in a residency at Jamestown Community College
where they taught acting, improvisation and directed a student performance.
