Ron Nelson, for the past thirty five years,
has been often compared to the Legendary "God father of Soul",
James Brown. Ron Nelson was inspired and influenced by Soul Brother #1
James Brown at the age of 7. Ron Nelson has entertained and thrilled
audiences for over two decades performing on numerous stages, traveling
to Japan, Mexico, as well as touring within the United States. Ron entertained
on national television and has performed on stage with James Brown at
the 1985 L.A. Street Scene, hosted and given by the former Mayor of Los
Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley. A native of southern California, Ron Nelson
began singing in a baptist church choir at the age of 5. His mother and
father,
also gospel singers, motivated and encouraged him to pursue his dream
career in music. By the time Ron was in junior and senior high school,
Ron Nelson had won numerous awards from many talent shows as the top
entertainer.
Ron Nelson's night club career has included
appearances throughout the world; including his performance to the pre-grammy
music award party crowd with over 2500 celebrities and fans gathered
for the pre-grammy party hosted by Ms. Vonny Hilton Sweeney at the Berwin
Entertainment Center in Hollywood. Other appearances have included performances
at the Masonic Auditorium when Ron entered a talent show worth $25,000
in prize money and won! Ron's a self-appointed Protegé of James
Brown, had one of the greatest thrills of his life when he met Mr. Brown
a few years ago; at that time, Ron told Mr. Brown what a great impact
he had on his life, so after witnessing Ron's remarkable performance
on video, James Brown then invited Ron to join him on stage.
James Brown told Ron Nelson that he's seen
a lot of "imitators", but the way Ron handles himself on stage
reminds him of his younger years. "Ron Nelson is the BEST IMITATOR
I've ever seen on stage doing me." Mr. Brown admits. In 1979, Ron
Nelson signed his first recording contract with Castal Records, and recorded
his first single called "The Poplock" flip side entitled "I
got a Funky Band". The doors opened for Ron Nelson, and the late
celebrity Wolf man Jack invited Ron to perform the record "Live" to
the radio disc jockeys of radio station K.R.L.A Christmas party. A few
years later, Ron Nelson signed an artist recording deal with an Independent
Recording Company called Stama Records, based in Los Angeles. The album
called "Rock The House", was played and sold in England. London
radio station "Kiss EM." rated the album #15 on the Billboard
play List. .
In 1991, Ron auditioned for M.C. Hammer for
the "Too Legit to Quit" video that aired on the National Cable
Network H.B.O Family Home Entertainment Special. Ron Nelson got the part
and acted all shadow and look-a-like parts for James Brown, and for the
parts he was not present; James had to emulate my acting style ability
for his lead role in the video.
Ron Nelson believes in giving his audiences
more than 100%. So don't miss out on the thrill and excitement at your
next event! Ron Nelson is a serious, dedicated stage entertainer who
is making his mark in the music field. Ron will continue to excite audiences
with his electrifying bad self.
