Born and raised in Seattle, Steve Smith got
his show business feet wet at a very early age . By the time he was 9
he had been in a movie and was a regular on local television. Not sure
if he was getting all this work because he was funny or just funny looking
he continued his acting throughout college. Steve attended The Evergreen
State College in Washington. A liberal arts school where he majored in
theater. This college was so liberal they didn't give grades, just evaluations.
Still, to this day, Steve Smith has no idea what his grade point was.
It was in college, that he caught the comedy bug.
After touring the Northwest and Canada for
a few years Steve Smith decided (Okay asked) to leave Seattle for the
bright lights of Los Angeles. Plus, if you stay to long in Seattle you
either start to grow roots or play grunge. Less then a year in Los Angeles
Steve was tragically killed. First by Freddy Kruger in the movie Nightmare
On Elm Street 2. Then he got a lead role in the movie Slaughterhouse
Rock. All the while compiling over 40 television appearances as a standup
comic . It only was a matter of time before he needed to branch out even
further as a performer.
Steve Smith started the critically acclaimed
improvisational group The Bargain basement Players (They later changed
their name to "An Unpleasant Smell") which played for three
years at the Santa Monica Improv . He also had a starring role in the
movie "Nice Guys" most recent standup comedy journeys have
taken him around world. From Honduras to Japan to Cuba to Korea to The
Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Scotland.
