The Water Coolers - A Music Revue About Life at the Office

The Water Coolers
When It Absolutely, Positively Has to Be Funny!

For your next conference or sales meeting, gather 'round The Water Coolers. Conceived by one of the creators of the long-running New York hit Tony and Tina's Wedding, The Water Coolers employs original songs, musical parodies and comic sketches to gently poke fun at the rituals and routines of our daily grind so we can all work together "happily ever laughter." The Water Coolers enjoyed a smash Off-Broadway run in Fall 2002, took its Original Cast Recording to the Tower Records nationwide in 2003 and continues to make corporate audiences roar. E! Entertainment's Daily News recently called The Water Coolers"the sleeper hit of the season!"

The Water Coolers - A Music Revue About Life at the Office
Corporate trainer and former conference planner Sally Allen (Executive Director of Hospitality and Tourism Skills, National Skills Standards Board) and actor and comedy writer Thomas Michael Allen (Tony and Tina's Wedding, spots for Lincoln Mercury, Coca-Cola, Burger King...) decided to blend their individual expertise into a common venture. Using Broadway talent to create fiirst-class musical comedy entertainment tailored to the needs of the professional meeting planner, the Allens recruited creative kingpins from both the New York business and theatre worlds to create a fresh, new look at the topic. The current company members' performing credits includes Rent, Les Miserables, Cats and The Lion King.

A "laugh-out-Ioud" look at the workplace, The Water Coolers is high-powered entertainment about the fast-changing, fast-talking, hard- driving office environment of contemporary America. From worrying about what you might have said at last Friday's happy hour, ("Panic Monday") to decoding the mystery of "Casual Friday" to fending off the insidious technology takeover, ("In Windows 2525"), The Water Coolers offers a hilarious take on what we go through just making every work week happen.

The Water Coolers can send you a 3-person version of the show that travels five (including the pianist and stage manager) or the full 5 -person show, traveling seven, when you have a big event requiring a bigger sound and feel. Two ways to bring top-notch talent and comedy to your event.

The Water Coolers

The Water Coolers specializes in comedy songs and sketches about work, life and everything in between. Kids, cars, computers, daycare, and deadlines -- if you've talked about it around the water cooler, odds are we have a hilarious song about it.

When we do a corporate or association event, we start with that ever-increasing wealth of material about life and work. After learning about your event and your audience, we build a set list that aligns with your objective, fits with your culture, and is on target for your attendees. For example...

For audiences that travel a lot, we do our “Air Travel Medley” including “Flying In Economy” (sung to the tune of Leaving On A Jet Plane) and “De-Lay” (Harry Belafonte’s Day-O).

For sales audiences, we might do “Nowhere Close To My Quota” (Somewhere Over the Rainbow) and “We Are the Sales Reps” (We Are the Champions).

For audiences that spend a lot of time dealing with technology we’ll include our IT medley, which speaks to anyone ever held captive by a help line (“And Hold Please”), who has pretended to understand an IT guy (“The I.T. Cowboy”), or found themselves judged by how many words a minute they can type with their thumbs (“Blackberry”).

Where possible, language can be added to introductions that speak directly to the audience.

Most corporate meetings and events have a lot of goals in common -- bring people together, strengthen their connection to each other, train, educate, motivate, and celebrate. But they're not one-size-fits-all. Organizations are unique and so are people so it only stands to reason that meeting planners and event planners need some flexibility. We can bring The Water Coolers to your corporate event or meeting in any one of the following ways or we can combine our offerings to fit your needs.

Songs and sketches written specfically for your audience -- The Water Coolers can do a little or a lot. The price depends on how much you choose to do.

A special, highly customized show that celebrates excellence, brings humor and excitement to the event, and makes audience members feel like rock stars.

Music and comedy woven into your programming day that's specially designed to achieve specific meeting management goals like warming up and energizing attendees, bringing on key speakers, or refocusing the audience after a break.

THE WATER COOLERS NEVER MAKE FUN OF THE BOSS.

Raves from the Audience

"The Water Coolers have got the American workplace nailed. The hassles, head-trips, and hook-ups of our modern corporate culture are all captured in songs that are funny, lyrical, and dead on. Move over, Microsoft. The Water Coolers have a new "office suite" we've got to install."
-- Fred Grandy, former US Congressman and CEO, Goodwill Industries

"I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt! Like a cross between Dilbert and Forbidden Broadway."
-- Ian Doherty, Associate Art Director, Home Magazine

"It was fantastic. I want to hire them for the sales meeting. They captured so many things that are so real in an office and it was funny."
-- Nancy McKay, Vice President of Sales, Clinique

"I love The Water Coolers show. I've worked for a small start up company in middle America and now I'm on Wall Street and I think the show appeals to that whole spectrum of companies and workers."
-- Alicia Duran, Vice President of Research, Merrill Lynch

"We're still getting rave reviews from many of the 600 business leaders who attended our event. It's difficult to parody what's truly funny about office life without ever actually making fun of it. It's a fine line, but your troupe walked it brilliantly. Thank you for your focus on our objectives for the event and what we needed to accomplish. Your flexibility in terms of the time and space was greatly appreciated. You made my team look great and me by association; we appreciate that!"
- Judy Gray, President/CEO, Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce

"It was super, I loved it. The ideas were brilliant, they really cut to the core of this office dynamic that I live every day. The talent was incredible."
-- Shari Krikorian, Director, E-Commerce, MasterCard, International

"I thought it was great, it really rang true. I've had a lot of experience in the banking world and insurance before I became an attorney and all the things that happen in the firm were reflected... the sort of paranoia, the narcissism, the fear, but they make you laugh at it and that's the great thing."
-- Jim McBride, Associate Attorney, Schulte, Roth, Zabel, LLP

"I loved it. On Monday I'm going to have to go look for microphones because I think you all have been in my office. It's what I live everyday with better singing and dancing, but it's really what I live everyday."
-- Richard McKay, Project Manager, Davis, Brody, Bond Architects

"The Water Coolers is hysterical musical comedy from beginning to end. Anyone who has worked in an office setting will roar with laughter. Our membership did. Don't miss this show!"
-- Barry R. Manus, V.P., Membership, Human Resources Association of New York
